The gift of growing up in a wooden house in Athens

Dear Friends,

As the house starts to take shape and everything comes together, I’m filled with anticipation! I can’t wait to live in this wooden home, surrounded by the smell of timber and the knowledge that it reflects our commitment to environmental consciousness. This is truly a wonderful gift for our children, allowing them to grow up in one of the very few, if not the only, wooden houses in Athens.

Building this house has been a journey, filled with challenges and doubts from many who questioned the idea of using CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) in a city where concrete dominates. But overcoming these obstacles has only strengthened our resolve. We believed in something different, something better for our family and the environment, and we trusted that this vision was worth pursuing, even when it seemed unconventional. It’s a reminder to our children that innovation often comes with resistance, but true growth happens when we choose to move forward, despite the doubts and fears of others.

There’s something special about living in a wooden house that fosters a sense of serenity and tranquility. The warmth of the wood creates a cozy atmosphere that invites connection and reflection, helping us stay in tune with our inner selves. In a city like Athens, where concrete structures dominate the landscape, this home feels even more significant. It’s a testament to how we can make sustainable choices, even in unexpected places.

I hope this experience inspires our children to forge their own paths, even when others say it’s not possible, and to always care for our planet’s resources. This home is more than just a structure; it’s a sanctuary for growth, creativity, and a deeper connection to nature.

With love,
